You Don’t Need a College Degree to Get a Good Job
Most Americans grow up thinking that the only way to succeed in life is with a college degree. That the only jobs out there for those without a degree are low paying, dead end jobs at minimum wage. However, this could not be further from the truth. According to NPR, there is a shortage of skilled trade workers in the current marketplace, partially because so many students have it in their head that the only path to success is through a university and a four year degree program. Yet the economy needs more trade workers, and that need is only increasing.
Education at a technical school costs much less than going to a public university for a four year degree. The U.S. Department of Education reports that trade workers are more likely to be employed than those with academic degrees. They are also significantly more likely to be working in their field of study.
