On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, Senate President Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland) accepted ACI Medical and Dental School’s invitation for a visit to tour the school in Eatontown, N.J., to meet their students and leadership, and see what makes the school and their graduates so successful. This visit comes during a shift in how our state is looking at higher education. New Jersey policymakers are discussing free community college education and other ways to make post-secondary education a reality for more of its residents.
Senate President Sweeney spent some time talking with ACI Medical and Dental School’s leadership, toured the school, then joined students in their classrooms to hear why they chose to attend this technical school.
Danielle, a current student, excitedly told the Senate President, “I graduated from college and couldn’t find a job. I found ACI Medical and Dental School on the internet and I didn’t initially believe that I could be credentialed in the medical field in 3 to 4 months. But, it’s true and it’s awesome here. I found out yesterday that I was offered a position through my internship and I’m so excited!”
Another student, Nashiem, told the Senate President, “This is my first shot at having a career instead of a job. I worked in food services before and now I can build a career in the medical field.”
Senator Sweeney appreciated how the school is preparing their students for technical careers. “Technical training is crucial to workforce development and our overall state economy. I am grateful for the work that they are doing here at Advantage Career Institute to train our next generation of medical and dental professionals. The training provided here paves the way for lifelong careers for countless New Jerseyans.”
