What Are the Responsibilities of a Medical Assistant?
Medical Assistant training at Advantage Career Institute Medical & Dental School will prepare our students to perform a wide variety of day-to-day tasks, including:
- Measuring the height, weight and vital signs of patients
- Sterilizing medical equipment and sanitizing examination rooms
- Performing electrocardiograms (EKGs)
- Assisting doctors in physical exams and minor surgeries
- Performing phlebotomy procedures
- Updating patient electronic health records (EHR)
- Front office tasks such as answering phones and scheduling appointments
- Patient care technician procedures like operating dialysis equipment, assisting patients with daily functions, and overseeing medication
This hands-on training is conducted at our on-site facility with state of the art medical equipment.

Does the Medical Assistant Program Have Career Assistance?
Yes, we offer a six week Career Assistance Program (CAP) that trains students in constructing a resume, conducting a job search, interviewing, and other areas of career assistance. Students receive a lifetime of career services when they enroll.
Does Medical Assistant Training Offer an Internship Program?
As a required part of the Medical Assistant program, students must complete a 180 hour internship. This is a critical part of the Medical Assistant program, as it prepares students for a career in the medical field.
