If you’re interested in working in healthcare, CCMA training is a great place to start. Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMAs) work closely with doctors and get hands-on experience with patients, while also learning many key parts of working in the medical field.
At ACI Medical & Dental School in Eatontown, NJ, we offer a fast-track CMA program that gets students certified in as little as five months. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect from CMA training programs and why it may be the right path for you.
What Is CCMA Training?
Our Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) training program teaches students the skills needed to prepare for a dynamic role in healthcare. Our program covers clinical training like phlebotomy, EKG, and patient care so students are well-equipped to assist in various medical settings. You’ll also learn medical terminology, anatomy, and other key topics.
The program also includes a 180-hour on-site internship at a medical facility, so you get real-world experience. After finishing, you can take the NHA exam and become certified. This opens the door to jobs in clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare settings. We focus on giving you the hands-on training and knowledge you need to start your career with confidence.
How Long Does It Take To Become CCMA?
At ACI Medical & Dental School, you can become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant in as little as five months. Our full-time program runs for 14 weeks, Monday through Friday.
If you need more flexibility, our evening program takes 35 weeks and works well for those who have daytime jobs, child care or other responsibilities. Both programs include our 180-hour internship to give you real-life experience.
Both programs give you the skills and knowledge to pass the NHA certification exam and start working quickly. This fast-paced training is ideal for those ready to begin a healthcare career without spending years in school.
Is CCMA Training Worth It?
Getting certified as a CCMA through the NHA with our program is a smart way to start a long-term career in healthcare. After becoming a CCMA, you can grow into more specialized roles in phlebotomy, EKG, pediatrics, or patient care coordination, all of which are covered in our training.
Many CCMAs move into healthcare administration or go on to become nurses or physician assistants. Our program is also great for pre-med students who want real experience. You’ll have many options to grow in your career.
Our Career Assistance Program helps you plan your next steps, whether you’re advancing in your job or thinking of going back to school. If you want a fast start and room to grow in healthcare, becoming a CCMA is a great investment in your future.
How Long Is The CCMA Exam?
Earning an NHA CCMA credential requires passing the certification exam, which assesses whether a Medical Assistant has the knowledge and competency to perform their job at the highest level. The exam can take up to 3 hours and covers topics ranging from clinical patient care to administrative duties. There are 180 multiple-choice questions (150 scored, 30 unscored) with four possible answer choices. You must get a score of at least 390 out of 500 to pass.
The questions focus on topics including:
- Clinical Patient Care (more than half the questions focus on this)
- Foundational Knowledge & Basic Science
- Patient Care Coordination & Education
- Office Administration
- Communication & Customer Service
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Medical Law & Ethics
Are CCMAs In High Demand?
Certified Clinical Medical Assistants are in very high demand by employers across the healthcare industry. The Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates a 15% increase in Medical Assistant positions by 2033, which is faster than most other careers. This demand stems from an aging population and the expansion of healthcare services.
Our program prepares students to take advantage of this demand. With training in clinical skills, phlebotomy, EKG, and patient care, our graduates have the practical experience to stand out in the thriving job market.
