The growth of the aging baby-boom population will continue to increase demand for preventive medical services, which are often provided by physicians. BLS Job Description: “Phlebotomists draw blood for tests, transfusions, research, or blood donations. Some explain their work to patients and provide assistance when patients have adverse reactions after their blood is drawn.”
Job Outlook: “Employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 25% from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. Hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers, and other locations will need phlebotomists to perform bloodwork.”

Radiologic and MRI Technologists (Radiologists)
BLS Job Description: “Radiologic technologists, also known as radiographers, perform diagnostic imaging examinations, such as x rays, on patients. MRI technologists operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to create diagnostic images.”
Job Outlook: “Overall employment of radiologic and MRI technologists is projected to grow 13% from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. As the population grows older, there will be an increase in medical conditions that require imaging as a tool for making diagnoses.”
