After my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, I began to teach myself whatever there was to know about diabetes. At an appointment with her endocrinologist, her physician asked if I ever thought of going into medicine. At the time, I had not. But I was learning so much on my own and I was undoubtedly interested. I started to look for the best option for me. I stumbled upon ACI. I decided to take the jump and do it. What did I have to lose? I attended the ACI evening program and pushed myself to show my kids anything is possible if you believe in yourself. A mom of 4, working full time, kids in competitive sports, and attending school. I DID IT!!! I can still remember the words I said in my graduation speech as if it was yesterday! After ACI, I became the first ER intern at CentraState Medical Center. The same ER that saved my daughter's life. I wanted to pay it forward. From that, I was hired into a full-time days position in the ER. Worked in the ER and began training newly hired employees shortly after. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself!
