Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy, EKG, and Patient Care Tech
The Medical Assistant Certificate Program provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to become a Certified Medical Assistant. During the course of this program, students will also train for EKG, phlebotomy and patient care tech certifications. Students who successfully complete the MA program will be prepared to work in a variety of health care settings including doctor’s offices, clinics, hospitals, and nursing homes.
What Does a Medical Assistant Do?
Medical Assistants work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers, supporting doctors and other healthcare professionals.
Among other duties, the day-to-day responsibilities of a Medical Assistant might include:
- assisting doctors in physical exams
- assisting doctors in minor surgeries
- taking patients’ vital signs, height and weight measurements
- updating patient records
- disinfecting medical instruments
- performing EKGs & identifying the arrhythmias
- performing phlebotomy procedures
