What Does a Medical Assistant Do?
Medical Assistants work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers, supporting doctors and other healthcare professionals.
Among other duties, the day-to-day responsibilities of a Medical Assistant might include:
- assisting doctors in physical exams
- assisting doctors in minor surgeries
- taking patients’ vital signs, height and weight measurements
- updating patient records
- disinfecting medical instruments
- performing EKGs & identifying the arrhythmias
- performing phlebotomy procedures

Medical Assistant: The Skills You’ll Need
All students in our Medical Assistant Certification Program at ACI Medical & Dental School will gain knowledge of:
